Plans & Billing

Plans

CDBX offers four plans.

Free ($0/month) — 15 credits/month (5/day cap, resets midnight UTC), instant browser-runtime apps only, access to Free-eligible models, publish with a small CDBX badge.

Pro (from $20/month for 100 credits) — every app runtime including server-backed apps, every model, custom domains, badge removed. Pick a higher credit level for a lower effective per-credit rate — the Plans tab shows exact pricing and "Save X%" at each level, monthly or annual (3 months free on annual). 7-day free trial on your first upgrade at the entry credit level — you can choose "Pay now" instead if you'd rather skip the trial and be charged immediately. One free trial per card: a card that has already had a trial, on any account, is charged straight away instead.

Pro BYOK ($10/month) — All Pro features, but you supply your own Anthropic, OpenAI, Moonshot, or xAI API key instead of drawing platform credits. After upgrading, add your key in Settings → AI Settings.

Team — Self-serve from the Plans tab: pick a credit level per seat (same levels and ~10% better pricing than Pro) and it creates your workspace and starts billing in one flow. Each teammate gets their own monthly credit allowance (their seat), not a shared pool — and while you're in a team, all your AI usage draws on your seat, in any app — one person running out doesn't affect anyone else. Seats can mix platform-credit members and BYOK members on the same team. Same 7-day trial as Pro. Once you're in a team with a plan, cdbx shows the team's plan wherever your plan is named — for example "Acme's Team plan" in your account menu, Plans and Billing.

Upgrading

Go to your dashboard and open the Plans tab. Choose a plan and complete the Stripe checkout — promo codes, if you have one, apply at this step. Once payment is confirmed you are redirected back to CDBX and the plan activates immediately (allow a few seconds — the page catches up automatically once the payment webhook lands).

To cancel or update your payment method, click Manage billing on the Plans tab. This opens the Stripe customer portal where you can make changes to your subscription.

Pro BYOK — how it works

After upgrading to Pro BYOK, go to Settings → AI Settings and add your Anthropic, OpenAI, Moonshot, or xAI API key. Without a key, the AI chat will show an error prompting you to add one.

Your key is encrypted with AES-256 before it is stored. CDBX never reads the key in plaintext. All AI usage and costs flow directly through your provider account — CDBX does not mark up or resell those requests.

If you add your own API key while on a credit-based plan, your key takes precedence and platform credits are not consumed.

Tracking your credits

The Plans tab shows, for the current month:

  • Your credit balance, plus what you have used today and this month.
  • Your burn rate ("~12 credits/day") and how long that pace leaves you. With no usage yet it says there is not enough data to project — it never guesses.
  • What spent the credits, broken down by where (App chat, Agents, external AI via MCP) and by model. Usage from before this breakdown existed is grouped as Earlier usage.

You are warned on the page when you pass 80% of your monthly credits, and again when you run out.

If you run out while chatting — the daily limit on Free, or your month's credits on any plan — the chat shows an Upgrade to Pro (or Get more credits) button that brings you here.

Every chat box also carries a small credit chip in its bottom toolbar. It turns amber past 80% and red at zero, and hovering it shows your burn rate and a link back to this page. It is hidden on BYOK accounts, where platform credits do not apply.

Auto-refill

Rather than watching the meter, turn on Auto-refill on the Plans tab and cdbx buys more credits for you when your balance runs low. You set:

  • Refill when below — the balance that triggers a top-up.
  • Buy this much each time — one of the standard credit packs.
  • Charges per day (max) — a hard limit, 1–10, so nothing can run away.
  • Monthly limit — an optional ceiling on credits bought per month. Set 0 for no limit.

Auto-refill charges the card already on file from your subscription. If there is no saved card, or you are on Free or BYOK, the switch stays off and tells you why. Add a card via Manage billing first.

If a charge is declined, auto-refill turns itself off, emails you, and shows the reason on the Plans tab. Update your card and switch it back on — cdbx never retries a failing card in a loop.

Cancellation

Cancel at any time via the Stripe customer portal (Manage billing on the Plans tab). Your Pro access continues until the end of the current billing period. After that, the account reverts to the Free plan.
